Second Visit, March 25. New management.1st time just randomly popped in and impressed by lay out, cleanliness and staff, we just had a cheeky pudding each and they were lovely so called back for Sunday Lunch and was not disappointed. Beef, Pork or Lamb, veg etc, all lovely, then puds again smashing, nice pub grub, staff lovely, polite and on point, Dog friendly. All in all genuinely nice pub and will be back.

The Black Bull is under new management so we thought we would give it a try and we was not disappointed. Great food, friendly staff and great beers brewed at their own brewery on the estate. There were four of us eating and we had three course all as equally tasty as the last. I will be recommending the Bull to all as they have really turned the place around, congratulations and good luck.

Dine with the locals! Enjoy great service and superb food. Lovely building! The bartender was helpful to us foreigners and we had a lovely meal.

Picked from the early bird menu, plenty of choice for a vegetarian. Thai curry amazing corned beef pie special excellent

A cosy and inviting Pub / Restaurant offering good food offers ( see posters for terms and conditions). Only popped in for a pot of tea , but service was excellent. Toilets were clean and well maintained, with easy access from Bar . Bar provided seating for eating and drinking , we chose a comfortable sofa near an open fire / log burner . Ideal when weather is clement . Friendly and helpful staff made our simple Visit a relaxing break in our day . Dog friendly- which is always a plus

Really good food, steak and ale pie was spot on and fish and chips was good. Dog friendly in the function room. Need to fix there speaker in the function room cos it keeps going on and off which was really annoying. Toilets need some TLC as well as they were dirty and everything was broken. Nice pub overall.

Plenty of meat in my steak & ale pie! The dish was full of meat compared to other places. Lovely little place just off the main road to visit. Nice to have a Guinness out in the sun and see tourists visiting on their motorcycles. Pleasantly clean and varied seating areas indoors and out. We cycled from Kelso then waded over the ford to head back again to make a circular route. That ford may not be passable in wetter months! Would visit again thanks.

We came to Heatherslaw for a day visit. Took the mini train to Etal and needed some food with the family. Nice and cosy place. Food was lovely and the staff were nice as they came over to our table to take our food order. If we ever visit the area again, we’ll be back.
